Lords Of The Fallen Sequel Announced But Probably Won't Be On Steam

CI Games has announced that a sequel to Lords of the Fallen is currently in development, and it most likely will not be sold on Steam for its PC release.

CI Games revealed that Epic Games has the exclusive distribution rights for the Lords of the Fallen sequel on PC for its entire product life cycle. However, the IP rights and publishing rights for other platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, remain with CI Games. The studio mentions that the game is due out in 2026 as well. The announcement refers to it as a sequel to Lords of the Fallen, so it may not actually be called “Lords of the Fallen 2.”

It’s unclear if Epic is funding the game’s development similar to how it did for Remedy’s Alan Wake 2. It’s currently an Epic Games Store exclusive and so far shows no signs of leaving the PC storefront for Steam. Even if Epic isn’t funding Lords of the Fallen 2’s development, its publishing rights on PC suggest the game will follow the same route and be exclusive to the Epic Games Store.

Lords of the Fallen is a reboot of the 2014 game with the same name, both of which are heavily inspired by the Souls-like subgenre. One of Lords of the Fallen’s unique mechanics is the Umbral Lamp, which lets players switch between the realms of the dead and the living, which opens up new pathways to progress.

It was released in October 2023 for PC on both Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. In GameSpot’s Lords of the Fallen review, we said, “While Lords of the Fallen has all the right Souls-like elements, its disjointed pacing and painful checkpoint system make much of the game a slow and frustrating march.”
